(PHILADELPHIA, PA) – April 3, 2011 - New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) Chief Administrator Raymond P. Martinez today joined Flyers Forward Ian Laperriere, Flyers alumnus Bernie Parent and Comcast-Spectacor Charities Senior Vice President Mary Ann Saleski in unveiling the new Philadelphia Flyers license plate.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these special plates will benefit local charities supported by Comcast-Spectacor Charities and the Flyers Charities.
The Flyers plate is the latest addition to the MVC’s line-up of sports-themed license plates the agency began selling in late 2010.
“The number of requests to add a Flyers plate to our sports’ line was staggering,” said Chief Martinez. “This new plate will allow Philadelphia Flyers’ fans who live in New Jersey to display their pride for their favorite team while supporting the great philanthropic work of the Flyers Charities.”
“We are excited to partner with the State of New Jersey to allow Flyers fans living in the Garden State to show their Flyers pride while raising money for charity,” said Vice President of Comcast Spectacor Charities Mary Ann Saleski.
Applications for the new Flyers plate, and the rest of the sports plate line, can be obtained at www.njmvc.gov/sports or at any of the MVC’s 39 agencies. Completed forms must be mailed-in to the MVC Special Plates Unit for processing. Plates are $60 for an initial purchase with an annual renewal fee of $60. Personalized plates are also available for purchase for an additional fee.
“The sale of sports plates is a win-win for the Garden State as it allows fans to show their team spirit while providing another valuable source of revenue and it helps the sports teams support their designated non-profit organizations,” added Martinez.
