Thanks and Giving Affords New Opportunities to Honor Players

Fans support players through charity

A new initiative called, the “Thanks and Giving” program was launched in 2007 in response to fans wanting to find a way to honor our players for various milestones, achievements or get well messages. Upon each donation, players are informed of the donation made in their honor.

Below is an excerpt from Donor and Flyers Season Ticket Holder Stan Silverman who has donated for reasons such as Joffrey Lupul and R.J. Umberger’s Hat Tricks, Danny Briere’s first Flyers Hat Trick and Get Well Wishes to Derian Hatcher and Simon Gagne.

"Each year, the Flyers Wives volunteer their time and are personally involved in many worthy causes to help our community. As Flyers fans, we show our appreciation for their commitment and dedication by making contributions to the Comcast-Spectacor Foundation in honor of an injured player wishing him a speedy recovery, or in honor of a player for his outstanding performance in a game or his achievement of a personal milestone.

Our contributions during the season are greatly appreciated by the players and help a very worthy cause. We are proud to be part of this effort. It’s a great way to financially support the Comcast-Spectacor Foundation." - Stan Silverman
